Videos, audio files and scripts you upload are used for one purpose: producing your subtitles. They are automatically deleted when you close the job page - the originals, the transcripts, the timings, and any rendered videos. While the page is open your files stay, so you can take as long as you need. Once it closes they are removed within the hour, and anything left behind by a crash or a lost connection is cleared within a day. Occasionally a job may be removed sooner for operational reasons. We don't watch, analyse or sell your content, and we never use it to train anything.
Your file is handled on our own server in Germany, with one exception: to convert speech to text, the audio is sent to a third-party speech-to-text provider under contract. That provider does not keep your audio once the transcription is returned, and does not use it to train models. Everything after that - the word-by-word alignment, the subtitle timing and the rendering - happens on our server.
If you supply your own script instead of using automatic transcription, your audio is never sent anywhere: it stays on our server for the whole job.
The site is delivered through a content-delivery network, which processes visitors' IP addresses in order to route and protect traffic.
There is nothing to sign up for, so we hold no names, passwords or profiles. To enforce the fair-use limit (10 videos every 4 hours), we keep a short-lived record of your IP address alongside your jobs. It is erased once that 4-hour window has passed, whether or not your files are still there, and it is never used for anything else.
When you use the contact form we receive your email address, your message, and the job link if you include one. We keep it so we can reply, for up to 12 months, and then delete it. Delivery to our inbox goes through a third-party email provider. We use your address only to answer you - never for marketing - and we don't sell or share it.
The subtitle tool works without tracking cookies. The site displays advertising supplied by Google, which - along with its partners - may use cookies to serve and measure ads, including personalised ads based on your prior visits to this and other sites.
If you are in the EEA or the UK you will be asked to consent before any advertising cookie is set, and you can decline or change your mind at any time. You can opt out of personalised advertising for all sites at Google's Ads Settings, and review how Google handles data at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
You can ask what we hold about you, ask for it to be deleted, or object to how it is used - write to us via the contact page. Closing the job page already deletes everything, but if you want a job gone immediately, send the job link and we'll remove it by hand. If you are in the EEA or the UK you also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
This site isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data.
If this policy changes we'll update the date at the top, and material changes will be noted on this page.
